We're okay!!!
Yeah, it got really weak by the time it hit here. It was Category 2. Merida has been hit twice in my lifetime, both by category 5 monsters, the last one was especially destructive. So at the time it was hitting, we were all like Uh? Where's the hurricane?

Thank God, we have water and electricity and phones. We ended up without any of that last time, and we spent something like a month without power and two weeks without water. o.O

Thank you all for your prayers and good wishes.

I wrote up a quick note over on Tangents to let people know you weathered the storm okay. I trust everyone is okay at home? :)

Heh... Nadia's not even a week old and she gets her first hurricane. :D I guess old Ma Nature wanted to keen an "eye" on her. ;)

Take care! :)

Well, I'm glad that's over. I don't think I could take the suspense any longer.

I can't think of any bad puns, though.

That reminds me of Hugo in 1989. The weekend before it was due to hit Puerto Rico, all the media and the government kept bombarding the people about how deangerous it was and how catastrophic it was going to be. And they were right , since a whole generation hadn't seen a hurricane, the last one was Betsy in1956.

Forecasters originally said Hugo would enter thur my Hometown of Ponce, and exit thru Mayagüez. But the bugger kept changing trajectory and eventually it just bodyslammed the island-towns of Vieques and Culebra and sideswiped the N.E. corner of Puerto Rico.

While San Juan was getting a beatin' , we in Ponce (on the south coast) were enjoying light rain with breeze and SUN!!!!!

Clean up and restoration of utilities in the San Juan Metro Area took about a month, during which San Juaneros had to drive south to get ice and food. Heh Heh Heh

Glad your safe Mari.

Although I find it weird that I've weathered more hurricanes in this past year than your whole life...stupid Gulf Stream...why can't it throw hurricanes at Africa once in awhile?

Whew. Good to know things got through okay, and with the amenities as well. Nadia's doing fine, then?

Maybe all of that combined Board will provided an intense resistance through which the hurricane had to battle, severely weakening it's powers.

Or not, but it's nice to think we had a hand in it, right? That would make us verri, verri Mari, indeed.

Recently I di read that Siths was able to destroy entire suns with theirs powers. Maybe we did the same to weak the hurricane. In the moment I write this I'm heard the news about the weakened hurricane in Yucatan.

Maybe Mary could move here. In Chile we don't have never hurricanes.

...Wait, we have hearthquakes.

Up here we have tornadoes. And lots of unhealthy air, too. And it gets cold. So maybe here isn't the best place, either.

At least hurricanes you can see coming from a week away. Tornados and earthquakes are never so considerate.

Thanks for letting us know that you're okay! Let's all hope that the rest of the hurricane season follows this trend (dissipation before actual landfall), especially since the U.S. Hurricane Center is predicting an active season still ahead of us. (I live in the New Orleans area, so I keep a sharp eye on the tropics.)
