Well, FUCK
Someone stole my credit card and went into a shopping spree with it.

I'm down.

the first $50.00 worth of purchases. Call your credit card company, and discuss this with them.

That's the law in the US. Doesn't necessarily apply here.

She'll probably get her money back though. It's usually on the merchants to validate identity and they're the ones that take the loss when they fail to verify a purchaser's identity.

It's just a huge inconvenience because of a loss of short-term cash flow.

Have you ever gotten an ATM receipt that showed you had -$9,800? :P I have.

That bites. Weird thing is that you are the 2nd person I know that had their credit card stolen. Hope this gets sorted out!

Oog. Fraud filing, identity-verification notices to everywhere and then some. Here's hoping that you get it all back.

Bugger! Hope they catch the thieving little pricks.

One of my housemates had this before Christmas..... five weeks later only $50 owing and $7800 of dodgy purchases refunded...... even better was the card only had a $5000 limit and the bank let $7850 go on it!

Good luck with the looooong conversations with your bank.

Ouch. I've been through similar, though smaller scale. Someone had just brute-forced my PayPal password and paid for things on eBay with it (from Thailand). Them later someone seemed to have gotten ahold of my card number and bought $50 worth of McDonald's food... in Brazil. I'm not particularly careless with my information, so just the fact they got in like that upset me.
